BEACHHOUSE PUBLISHING • LOCAL BOOKS FOR LOCAL KIDS
WELCOME!
|
BeachHouse publishes local children's books in Hawai‘i about Hawai‘i. Our books celebrate growing up in the Islands and features stories, characters, and places Hawai‘i's children will recognize and relate to. They also provide a colorful portrait of island life for family, friends, and visitors from outside the Islands who want to learn more about Hawai‘i's rich culture, history, and local life.
Our books are sold through Mutual Publishing, at independent bookstores and retail outlets across the state, and on Amazon. We publish board books, picture books, and coloring & activity books. Our new releases are posted below. This year, we're excited to publish the third title in our Wayfinders series of biographies for kids in kindergarten through second/third grade—Eddie Aikau. The first title is about Patsy Mink, champion of Title IX and women's and children's rights. The second title introduces kids to Mary Kawena Pukui, a Hawaiian scholar who worked her whole life to perpetuate the Hawaiian culture and language. Local artist Shane Petso-Sigel will be releasing a second Haku and Sam graphic novel for beginning readers you won't want to miss—perfect for summer reading. And we will be re-releasing two picture books. Koa's Seed by Carolyn Han, illustrated by Kathleen Peterson is a timely tale about the importance of honesty and integrity. Hawaiian Christmas Day, written by Beth Greenway, illustrated by Jamie Meckel, will be out in time for the holidays. If you missed it when it first came out in 2018, this is the year you will be able to give it to your favorite keiki this Christmas—it will be available for a limited time only! We also have 500-piece jigsaw puzzles featuring local artists! |
