About the Author |

Vera Arita, born and raised in Waipahu on the Island of O'ahu, received a Bachelors and Masters
degree in education from the University of Hawai'i at Manoa. She has been a special education
teacher for over twenty years and is currently teaching at Mililani Ike Elementary. She and her
husband, Neal, have two sons, Grant and Steven. This is Arita's first children's book. |

About the Illustrator |

Ruth Moen Cabanting was born and raised in the San Francisco Bay Area. She graduated from
San Jose State University where she majored in graphic design and illustration. After graduating,
she moved to Hawai'i where she has worked as an art director, designer and illustrator for ad
agencies, design firms, and a Japanese department store. Cabanting lives in Waimanalo. See her other books 1-2-3 Waikiki Trolley and Happy Honu Takes A Bath. |
